Oak Valley Hospital District is currently seeking a dynamic Charge Entry Specialist for our Patient Financial Services department who will embrace our mission, vision, and values. A charge entry specialist accurately enters patient billing and insurance data into a computer system, reviews charge documents for completeness and ensures compliance with billing and HIPAA regulations. Key duties include verifying patient information, applying charges and payments, resolving billing discrepancies, and communicating with other departments to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. Essential qualifications often include a high school diploma, experience in a similar role, and proficiency with billing software, data entry, and medical terminology.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 1-2 years of experience in a medical billing, charge entry, or related administrative role is usually necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. An associate’s degree or a certification in medical coding is often preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry, medical billing software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and standard office software like Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- A strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes is essential.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills, and excellent communication abilities are critical for success.
- Ability to work directly with patients on the telephone and in person to assist in the collection of patient account balances.
- Meditech and/or computer system processing preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- PC literate, typing, data entry, 10-key PC skills preferred.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
