Reporting to the Nurse Manager, this position is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high quality individualized patient care using the components of the nursing process.

The RN First Assistant (RNFA) plays a crucial role in the operating room, assisting surgeons during surgical procedures and ensuring high quality care. They assist the surgeon during operations, which includes tasks such as making incisions, suturing, controlling bleeding, and retracting tissues. They may also prepare patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, conducting assessments, and ensuring all preoperative protocols are followed. They assist in maintaining a sterile environment, handle surgical instruments, and anticipate the surgeon’s needs during procedures.

This position requires providing service to a one or more age populations including an ill pediatric, adult through geriatric patient population in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a RN School of Nursing
  • Associate Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred
  • Graduate of a First Assist training program certified by AORN
  • Minimum of one (2) year hands on experience in operating and recovery rooms required
  • One year experience in acute care experience preferred
  • Current California RN License
  • Current AHA BLS
  • Current AHA ACLS
  • Current AHA PALS
  • Current CNOR Preferred

Pay: $78 – $96 per hour
