Under the general supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor/Manager, the Pre-Registration Clerk is responsible for obtaining, verifying, and documenting insurance authorizations and referrals for hospital and outpatient services, including both scheduled and unscheduled encounters. This position plays a vital role in facilitating timely patient access to care, ensuring compliance with regulatory and payer requirements, and protecting hospital revenue through accurate and timely authorization processes. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and complete assigned duties within a timely manner. Takes the initiative to perform other tasks when assigned workload has been completed.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous registration, insurance, medical office experience, revenue cycle functions preferred
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Knowledge of computer input and skills
  • Good communication and guest relation skills Experience with surgical authorizations is strongly preferred.
  • Meditech experience preferred

Pay: $19.50-20.50 per hour
