The Director of Staff Development (DSD) is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse responsible for assessing the educational needs of staff at the Oak Valley Care Center. Develops the Care Center educational plan, implements and coordinates the identified educational and orientation programs to meet the needs of the nursing staff to maintain high quality patient care. Works collaboratively with other Managers to meet regulatory needs, the Care Center goals and to solve problems is a requirement of this position.

The DSD serves as a role model, consultant, change agent and facilitator in assessing learning needs of the Care Center. In addition, the DSD also monitors the activities of nursing staff to ensure quality care that complies with state, federal and corporate standards. They also direct the infection prevention and control program and its activities.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:
Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
Prefer BS/BSN in a related health field.

Minimum Experience/Skills:
Minimum of one (1) year Long-Term Health Care Setting.
Minimum of one (1) year experience in teaching in long-term healthcare or acute health setting.

Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as DSD or supervisory role.
Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.

Licensure:
Maintains current California Nurse licensure.
Maintain current DSD Certification (Must obtain within six-months of hire date.

Certifications:
Maintains current BLS

Special:

Knowledge of American Heart/Heart Saver and other life safety classes guidelines.
Responsible for working with Regional AHA director, and meeting all requirements of AHA to maintain Training
Center listing status

Exempt Salaried position pay: $76,300 per year
